Or are you interested in learning about WordPress?\u00a0 If you answered yes to any of these questions, you&#8217;ve come to the right place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contributing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A church&#8217;s website is often the first impression people see when looking for a church.\u00a0 Your contributions can make our website better and help people to know what God is doing here at EWBC. \u00a0 There are two ways you can contribute to our website.\u00a0 Submit content to be published, or modify the website directly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submitting content<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do you want to add content, pictures, upcoming events, or information about your ministry here at EWBC to our website, but have no interest in learning WordPress? \u00a0 Maybe you hate computers or just don&#8217;t have the time.\u00a0 You can email your content to me and I will integrate into the website.\u00a0 My contact information is found at the bottom of this page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maintaining\/improving our website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your interest in helping EWBC maintain its website. Our website is implemented using <strong>WordPress<\/strong>. I have collected some short videos to help you get started if you are new to WordPress.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cT4NlI00hMw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What is WordPress<\/a> (~1.5 minutes)<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gXEInuz5IAo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How does WordPress work?<\/a> (a little more technical, ~4.5 minutes)\n<ul>\n<li>The theme we are using is the &#8220;<strong>Astra<\/strong>&#8221; Theme<\/li>\n<li>The main plugin we use is the &#8220;<strong>Beaver Builder&#8221;<\/strong> drag and drop page editor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before you can modify or contribute to our website directly you must first register to it.\u00a0 Go to the WordPress login page <a href=\"https:\/\/teambarke.com\/ewbc\/wp-login.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/teambarke.com\/ewbc\/wp-login.php<\/a> and select <strong>Register<\/strong> under the login box.\u00a0 After registering your account, we will modify it so you to edit the website.\u00a0 This usually happens within 24 hours.\u00a0 Contact Ralph Barke (Contact info at the bottom of this page) if you have any questions or issues gaining access. After you have been updated, you can use the WordPress Dashboard and Beaver Builder to modify our website.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kaJbIzdC0ro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intro to the WordPress Dashboard<\/a> (~3.5 minutes)\n<ul>\n<li>Remember to Login using:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/teambarke.com\/ewbc\/wp-login.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/teambarke.com\/ewbc\/wp-login.php<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Note: Most of the time, we will be going to <strong>Pages<\/strong>, <strong>Menus<\/strong>, or <strong>Customize<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pages<\/strong> are where we add new pages or modify existing pages<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Appearance<\/strong>, you&#8217;ll find <strong>Menus<\/strong> and <strong>Customize<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In the <strong>Menus<\/strong> area, we can add a menu item to point to our new page. We can also edit the menu structure<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customize<\/strong> is where we can change site-wide things Like the Page banner, Lego, header, footer, sidebar, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We are not currently using <strong>Posts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2XxLlqYaMHs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How to Edit a Page on your WordPress Website with Beaver Builder<\/a> (~3.5 minutes)\n<ul>\n<li>Things to remember in Beaver Builder\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Adding new columns or modules<\/strong>, Start with the blue plus sign in the upper right-hand corner to open the beaver builder options.<\/li>\n<li>You only need to add a row if you want multiple columns<\/li>\n<li>Modules can be placed within row layouts<\/li>\n<li>In either case, <strong>you must drag the row or module to the desired location on the page. You can&#8217;t simply click it.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you are modifying a large portion of text, consider modifying it in a word processor first and then copy and paste it into the Beaver Builder text module.\u00a0 That way you have a copy in case there is any disruption with the internet or any problem with Beaver Builder\u00a0 (Learned the hard way)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a id=\"posting-guidelines\"><\/a><strong>Testing and Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We also maintain a <strong>test website<\/strong> here: <a href=\"https:\/\/teambarke.com\/ewbcTest\/wp-login.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ewbcTest<\/a>. This is a duplicate of the EWBC website that you can use to <strong>learn<\/strong> and <strong>experiment<\/strong> with WordPress. This is a great place to explore and experiment with WordPress Themes and Plugins.\u00a0 Occasionally, and after new contributors are added, <strong>this website is overwritten with a copy of the latest EWBC website. So don&#8217;t count on your changes being there next time you log in<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you would like your own sandbox site to experiment with, contact me (Contact info below) and we can create one just for you!\u00a0 Also, we do maintain backups of our main website, so you can&#8217;t mess it up so badly that we can&#8217;t recover.\u00a0 Still, let&#8217;s try not to mess it up.<\/p>\n<p><b>Posting Guidelines<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Once you are familiar with WordPress, you can help by keeping the site up to date, adding new content, fixing mistakes and grammar errors, correcting broken links, etc.\u00a0 \u00a0Here are some guidelines for posting on our website:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you. (Matthew 7:12a)<\/li>\n<li>Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31b)<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t publish pictures of children with names listed.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t publish pictures of anyone with names without written or email consent.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t publish anything that negatively portrays anyone without written or email consent.\u00a0 Funny pictures or practical jokes etc. might be OK, but we would want written or email consent to make sure the subject of the joke also thinks it is funny.<\/li>\n<li>General group or activity pictures are OK.<\/li>\n<li>Do not post advertisements or promote personal business or non-church-related activities.<\/li>\n<li>Please fix or correct errors if you find them.<\/li>\n<li>Please remove or rewrite past events if they are written as future events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ralph Barke&#8217;s contact information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, you found this webpage helpful.
