I enjoyed those traditions. Those are special childhood memories for me.

But when a relative passes away on Good Friday, it changes your whole perspective! It makes it REAL! It becomes personal. For the first time I really understood the power of the Easter story. I lost my grandma 3 years ago and I know I’ll see her again. It’s one thing to know something in your head, but it’s another thing to really understand it in your heart.

The only way I can think to describe it is to say it’s like having an emotional connection to something versus having no emotional connection to something.

You know something but you CAN’T relate to it versus really understanding something because you CAN relate to it in some way, shape, or form.

I always knew Jesus died to pay for our sins and to make a way for us to live with Him forever. But when Aunt Margaret passed away on Good Friday, it became personal for the first time, even though I had lost my grandma 3 years ago in March. I finally understood why it’s called “Good Friday.” Because Jesus died to wash away our sins and make a way for us to live with Him forever in heaven. Because of this we will see all our loved ones again and be with them forever in heaven. Jesus had to go to the cross first and the glorious resurrection Sunday came after.

Sometimes something bad has to happen for something beautiful to happen.

This is so true.

Here’s a personal example of this.

Easter 2019 would be the first Easter that we didn’t do any family Easter traditions or anything like that. I’m a stickler for traditions. I thrive on consistency. I thought Easter 2019 was going to be a very difficult Easter emotionally because I wasn’t able to go to church and we had no traditions or anything. But it ended up being the most beautiful Easter I’ve ever had! I don’t want to ruin the story so you’ll just have to read the next blog post titled “3 in 1.”

It’s Friday, But Sunday’s Comin’ – Good Friday 2019 Good Friday 2019 Mom’s 94 year old Aunt Margaret passed away on Good Friday 2019.
